---- US National Teams ----

Stuart Holden has overcome serious injuries to make it with Bolton in the English Premier League. The former Clemson player is seen by some as the heir apparent to Landon Donovan. Bolton, in eighth place, is glad to have Holden - whose smile and easygoing demeanor are all the more remarkable considering the serious setbacks in his six-year professional career.

The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team roster has been set for a training camp to be held from Feb. 12-20, in Phoenix, Ariz. Head coach Mike Matkovich has called in 36 players, including 26 current Development Academy players and four Development Academy alumni.

---- US Professional ----

MLSSoccer.com's Nick Firchau is all over the story of Charlie Davies's potential return to first team soccer with D.C. United, the site where it all went so horribly wrong back in October 2009. If you're not yet up to speed with the situation, this piece should get you there - and wanting to see more.

---- Youth  ----

Over two weekends in mid-March, several hundred youth clubs will descend on Prince William County, Va. to take part in Prince William Soccer's annual Icebreaker tournament. Now entering its 15th year, the tournament has grown from just under 100 club teams to an average of around 500 over the last several years.

National Public Radio looks at a fascinating book about the seedy underbelly of blue-chip youth basketball, but of course all youth sports are similar, so it's a good read for soccer.

---- Coaching ----

A Villanova University professor has taken a scientific approach to the effectiveness of substitutions in soccer matches, concluding that a specific sequence can significantly affect a losing team's chances of victory.

For all you coaches out there constantly looking to improve yourselves, this is nice tactical analysis of five different areas during the recently completed 2011 Asian Cup in Qatar. Offside traps, 4-6-0 and the more popular 4-2-3-1 formations, a new role for the playmaker, and Japan's ability to score late goals are all covered - with some video.

---- Miscellaneous ----

A Florida high school soccer goalkeeper has been charged with a felony count of hitting an opposing player during a post-game brawl.

Accepted team list has been posted for the Manhattan Soccer Club Kick-Off Classic

---- Videos ----

English Premier League roundup, February 5th and 6th [Video Highlights]
For all you English Premier League fans out there, or just coaches or parents looking give your sons and daughters motivation. These highlights show what is really possible with a round ball, 110 yards, two rectangles, and a bunch of friends who love the game too.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are at it again, trading goals in Wednesday night's international friendly between Argentina and Portugal.

Wednesday featured a full slate of international friendly matches around the world and amid all the action, two unbelievable moments pop out above all the rest.
