The U.S. Soccer Federation has announced that the match between the U.S. Men’s National Team and Egypt has been cancelled due to the current conditions in the country. The teams were scheduled to meet on Feb. 9 in Cairo. After exploring other options, the U.S. has determined it will not play a match on this fixture date.

U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Pia Sundhage has named 32 players to the roster for a training camp taking place in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., from Feb. 3-9, after which she will name a roster for the 2011 Algarve Cup in Portugal.

Former and hopefully future U.S. international Charlie Davies is in serious discussions to join D.C. United on loan, according to the Washington Post. D.C. United confirmed a loan deal is in place, with conditions.

Major League Soccer has moved the Houston Dynamo to the Eastern Conference a move made necessary with two news teams joining the league from the Upper Northwest for the 2011 season.

New York Red Bulls sign another player from youth academy. Their fourth "homegrown" player is Sacir Hot, a U.S. U20 international.

The Western New York Flash of Women’s Professional Soccer have named Scott Vallow to their coaching staff. Vallow, 33, has been serving as the Rochester Rhinos goalkeeper for 8 ½ seasons and will join the Flash in a Goalkeeper/Assistant Coaching role.

The final round significant growth in the size of the two-year-old Elite Clubs National League is expected to take place later this week, as the league is expected to announce between eight (8) and 12 new member clubs to join the existing 52 members.

The FPYC 2011 Liberty Cup Tournament (26-27 March) will be a great pre-season warm-up for all U9 to U18 boys and girls travel teams in the spring 2011 season. Liberty Cup features include:
- Four games for all teams: Two preliminary games (Saturday, one Sunday morning; either a Championship or Consolation game Sunday afternoon)
- Any age group canceled by weather or field conditions will receive a full refund
- Nearly all games on artificial turf fields at Fairfax City and County parks
