---- US National Teams ----

U.S. Men’s National Team and Fulham star Clint Dempsey scored a goal in his club’s 3-0 victory over West Brom in English Premier League action. The 56th minute goal came off a header near the six-yard box, and it was Dempsey’s seventh of the season [Video].

Just weeks after he ruled out a winter loan move to Everton FC, Landon Donovan has admitted he’d relish the opportunity to return to the Toffees next year.

American forward Robbie Findley will join English club Nottingham Forest if he is granted a British work permit. Forest, which plays in the second-tier League Championship, announced that the 25-year-old Findley will sign a 2½-year contract after leaving Real Salt Lake as a free agent.

U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team head coach Bill Irwin has called 24 players to a training camp running from Jan. 9-16 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team head coach Thomas Rongen has finalized a 25-player roster for the training camp from Jan. 2-13 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

---- US Professional ----

An impasse in negotiations with Columbus has prompted striker Jeff Cunningham, the No. 2 all-time goalscorer in MLS history, to test options overseas.

Players interested in playing in the WPS must express their interest by filling out a form by 8pm ET on Monday, January 10 in order to be considered for the 2011 WPS Draft.

Dan Lauletta shares “10 Things to Remember” about the WPS 2010 season.

The Clovis Sidekicks of the Pacific Conference of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) have announced a re-organization of their upper management team as preparations for their Summer 2011 season have already begun.

---- Youth & College ----

Six intercollegiate teams received the NSCAA’s Gold Team Ethics Award for completing the entire 2010 season without receiving either a yellow or red card.

After four days of elite competition, the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys Super Group has concluded and results have been posted.

The 2011 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Championships will be played alongside the Sereno College Showcase March 4 and 6 at Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Ariz.

---- Coaching ----

How much is too much for players with regard to tournaments? U.S. Youth Soccer Coaching Director Sam Snow weighs in with his opinion.

---- Health and Fitness ----

A handheld tool is being developed to catch head injuries in the field that would use a blood, saliva, or urine sample from a person with a suspected head injury.

According to a new report, high level athletes can maintain much of their health and fitness after they stop competing with just a little maintenance.

---- Miscellaneous ----

A somewhat disturbing cartoon about Ronaldinho and his club options.

Sheffield United’s mascot staged a one-pirate protest during United’s clash with Doncaster Rovers on Monday in solidarity with Preston North End’s “Deepdale Duck.” The Duck was forced to leave the stadium after trying to distract their opponent’s goalkeeper in a match vs Derby.

---- Videos ----

Maradona’s 2-year-old grandson has a wicked shot: Atletico Madrid’s Kun Aguero (who is married to Maradona’s daughter Giannina) posted a video clip of himself playing with his son while at home for the winter break on his official website. Though you’ll see fancier moves in other videos, I’m pretty sure you’ve never seen a soccer video that’s so adorable and will make you say, “Awwwww!”

Top 10 goals and saves from the 2010 WPS season.

Spanish squad kneels during match to protest not being paid: Like too many other clubs, financial troubles plague Spanish third-division side Pontevedra. The club’s players haven’t been paid in four months, so during a match against Lugo, they decided to draw attention to their plight by kneeling down and refusing to play for the first minute of the match. Clearly feeling a bit awkward about the situation, Lugo just passed the ball around among themselves until their opponents decided to get up and play. And then they beat Pontevedra 3-2.
