> Akron men's soccer team captures school's first NCAA championship
The University of Akron men's soccer team captured the school's first team national championship in any sport on Sunday, using a late goal to defeat Louisville 1-0 at Harder Stadium in the NCAA College Cup. The third-seeded Zips closed out their historic season with a 22-1-2 record, while the top-seeded Cardinals suffered their only loss of the year, finishing 20-1-3.

Major League Soccer has announced an initial list of 54 college seniors from 36 Division I schools who have been invited to participate in the 2011 adidas MLS Player Combine.

The Chicago Red Stars franchise, which was given an extension by the league’s Board of Governors until December 15 to complete its funding to secure a place in the 2011 WPS Season, announced Tuesday that it will forego the 2011 Season.

New Washington Freedom owner, telecom entrepreneur and avid amateur soccer player Dan Borislow recently spoke with Jeff Kassouf, purveyor or "The Equalizer", a blog about women's soccer news.

The Los Angeles Blues of USL PRO were officially introduced Tuesday with a ceremony at Titan Stadium on the campus of Cal State Fullerton, as the team prepares for its inaugural season in USL PRO.

The Western New York Flash of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) has agreed to terms with four players for the 2011 season, all of whom come to the Flash with experience in WPS.

The last of three 2010 id2 Regional Training Camps came to a close as more than 120 elite boys born in 1997-98 and girls born in 1996-97 representing a total of 18 states were on-hand for four days of high-level training and off-the-field sessions, Dec. 9-12 at Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Ariz.

U.S. Soccer has announced the next four winners of the 2010 Best of U.S. Soccer Awards. The winners of Best Academy Story, Best Fan Costume, Best Performance: Player and Best Soccer Specialty Store were all presented.

Former World Cup veteran Brian Hall has been appointed to the newly created position of CONCACAF director of referee administration, and will assume his new post at the confederation's New York headquarters on Monday.
