NSW Video of the Week: Boudlal pulls off a brave scorpion kick save

10 Dec, 2010

The move was made famous by crazy Colombian goalkeeper Rene Higuita, who pulled off a spectacular scorpion kick save against England in 1995. The extremely risky move hasn't been seen on the competitive soccer stage since then…until now.

KACM Marrakech's Hamza Boudlal resurrected Higuita's scorpion, performing a one-legged version of the save in a recent match. Though it's not quite impressive as Higuita's, what makes this one shocking is that he did it in the 82nd minute of a 1-1 match against Moroccan league leaders OCK Marrakech. That's right, the 82nd minute. Can you imagine seeing your goalkeeper flip his legs over his head on what should be a routine save in a crucial match?

Boudlal barely pulls it off - watch carefully to see how close he was to this ending in disaster. There's a fine line between brilliance and insanity.
