Seattle Sounders women sign U.S. Women's National Team star Alex Morgan

28 Feb, 2012

Two weeks after signing U.S. Women's National Team goalkeeper Hope Solo and rising star Sydney Leroux, the Seattle Sounders women have added yet another national star to their roster.

The Sounders women announced Monday they have signed star forward Alex Morgan for the 2012 season.

The Sounders are part of the W-League and affiliated with the United Soccer Leagues (USL). Seattle plays in the Western Conference of the 27-team league. Morgan's signing is still pending approval.

Morgan emerged as the newest women's soccer star during this past summer's Women's World Cup, scoring goals in the semifinal match and final. The 22-year-old has 16 international goals in 32 appearances and was the youngest player on the U.S. World Cup roster.
