By Jimmy LaRoue

Cooper Whitfield's 80th minute goal for the Dallas Texans U-15/16s salvaged a 1-1 tie against Solar Chelsea SC and preserved its unbeaten record.

Solar (8-4-7, 6-2-6 Texas Division) had taken the lead in the first half on a 34th minute goal from Toryima Asom.

Dallas Texans are 12-0-7 overall and 10-0-4 in Central Conference, Texas Division play. In the two teams' U-17/18 matchup, Solar pulled out a 2-1 win on a 90th minute own goal after the two teams exchanged goals within five minutes of each other midway through the second half.

FC Dallas's U-17/18s (15-1-2, 13-1-1 Texas Division), meanwhile, were dominant in a convincing 7-0 win over Andromeda. Jose de la Tejera had a hat-trick for the winners, while Alonso Gallegos contributed two goals.

Second place Texans SC Houston (11-2-7, 8-2-5, Texas Division) had five different goal scorers in a 5-0 win over Classics Elite (3-13-1, 2-10-0 Texas Division). Lonestar SC (10-6-2, 5-6-2 Texas Division) played to a scoreless tie with Houston Dynamo (6-8-5, 3-6-5 Texas Division).

In West Conference, SoCal Division play, the LA Galaxy took 2-0 wins over Pateadores in both the U-15/16 and U-17/18 matchups. Arsenal and Real So Cal, meanwhile, played to ties in both their U-15/16 and U-17/18 matchups. The U-15/16s played for a scoreless tie, while the U-17/18s tied 1-1.

The Seattle Sounders and Crossfire Premier split a pair of games, with Seattle's U-15/16s taking a 3-1 win on three first-half goals, while Crossfire's U-17/18s defeated Seattle 2-1.

South Conference, Atlantic Division

A lone goal was enough Saturday for Virginia Rush’s U-15/16 Development Academy team as it defeated McLean Youth Soccer 1-0.

With the win, Rush moves to 9-9-4 overall on the season, and 6-3-2 in the South Conference’s Atlantic Division, though it has played five more division games than second place Charlotte Soccer Academy, who is undefeated in the division at 6-0-0 and 7-3-1 overall. Likewise, CASL Chelsea FC Academy is also undefeated in the division at 4-0-0 and 7-1-3 overall.

It was a different story in the U-17/18 matchup between Rush and McLean, as McLean scored early, late and in between, picking up a 5-0 win.

McLean got a second minute goal from Conor Nogueira to start off the match, and Matthew Ledder capped off the match with a goal in the 90th minute. In between, Joel Teston scored twice–in the 19th and 69th minutes–and Amardo Oakley added a 39th minute goal. McLean (10-4-7, 8-0-2 Atlantic Division) has yet to lose in the division.

In crosstown matchups Saturday, the Richmond Strikers and Richmond Kickers split a pair of matches among its clubs, with the Strikers U-15/16s picking up a 1-0 win and the Kickers’ U-17/18 team pulling out a 2-1 victory.

The two clubs’ U-17/18 teams, meanwhile, were scoreless in the first half, with the match staying that way until the Kickers’ Zachary Harris scored in the 68th minute. The Strikers’ Michael Kibler leveled the match in the 78th minute, but just two minutes later, the Kickers’ Ryan Clapman scored what proved to be the match-winner. For Harris, it was his seventh goal of the season, while Clapman’s goal was his eighth overall. Harris scored the lone goal in the two teams’ previous matchup at the beginning of the month.

The Kickers U-17/18s (8-15-0, 6-6-0) currently sit in second place in the Atlantic Division, but the three North Carolina teams–Charlotte Soccer Academy, CASL Chelsea FC Academy and North Carolina Fusion–have several games in hand, and combined, have lost just once in 14 matches.
