Jefferson Cup 2011 interview with Mike Piserchio of Colorado Rush

12 Mar, 2011

The Soccer Wires caught up with Colorado Rush Boys Director of Coaching Mike Piserchio on day one of the 2011 Jefferson Cup Boys weekend in Richmond, Virginia.

Piserchio's under-12 team played in the 11v11 Championship bracket, and had just won a tight opening match by a 1-0 score against Western United from Massachusetts, making a beautiful first half goal stand to get their tournament off to a winning start. Though the Rush team did not find their way into the win column again on the weekend, they did play some real quality soccer with plenty of evidence their players are on the right developmental track.

Coach Piserchio won 5 Colorado state championships as a youth, including two regional championships and one national championship. He was apart of the U-17 National Team Pool for three years and had a stint with the U-17 National Team in 1996. He played soccer two years at the University of San Diego, he received Freshman Player of the Year honors. He then transferred to the University of Denver for his junior and senior year where he led the MPSF in assists both years he attended. He was a NSCAA West Region All-American both his junior and senior years, and went on to play one season with the Rapids of Major League Soccer.
